As I strongly advocate for train travel within Europe whenever possible, I have decided to keep track of the (long-distance) journeys I have made so far. Given how much we travel as academics (a privilege I certainly appreciate), it only seems right and sensible to choose the more sustainable option. Although the booking systems are still somewhat detached and would benefit from a European framework, international journeys (even those including layovers) have become bookable through some national rail providers (notably, DB, OEBB, SBB).
